The decorative kale is ok, especially in a decorative garden, but I believe I prefer regular collards, peppers, and such for landscaping because of the obviously dual purpose.
There was someone living in Benson, main street, back in the sixties. She put collards around her light pole every fall, prompting my mother to remark each time about the idea.
Yet for as much as Mama claimed to like collards around a light pole, she kept roses in her yard. The collards stayed out in the field.
