The proper pacifier

The proper pacifier is not the oddly shaped piece of soft plastic built to resemble a nipple on steroids.

It is the last joint of the little finger, nail down.

That puts any potentially sharp nail edges against the baby's tongue with the soft pad of the finger on the pallet.

Yes, I know this from experience.

Neither dude would except a commercial pacifier, and both were breast fed. After countless naps predicated on that little finger, they graduated to Cheerios. Go figure.

You should have heard the collective gasp from the ladies at A&T when they first saw that demonstration.

Yes, I occassionally washed my hands.
