Kurt Westergaard is known for his controversial depictions of the Muslim prophet Mohammad.

CNN reports: "A Somali man was shot as he allegedly tried to enter the home of Danish political cartoonist Kurt Westergaard -- known for his controversial depictions of the Muslim prophet Mohammad -- on Saturday, police said."

Those of you who read here at least a little, already know that I have little patience for the nonsense that is known as the Christian religion. Yes, that religion had many beautiful stories, but stories is all they are. There is no evidence whatsoever that any thread of truth underlies any of those stories.

However, we do have to give the Christians their due in one area. They do not attempt to kill those who create images of saints, prophets, and deities.

Hell, Jesus is a regular character on Southpark.

Muslims, on the other hand, have this thing about depictions of Mohammed. They kill people who do that, even the non-Muslim, and other people yield, usually, to this nonsense out of some misguided form of respect for the religion.

Respect, my hairy bohuncus. Most just don't want to have to put up with it.

The thing is that this business of respect goes both ways, and the Muslim community would do well to lighten up a little, and respect the freer thoughts and expressions of other cultures.
