Email Showing Obama Shining Palin's Shoes Could Get State Worker In Trouble

This picture in an email from a Colorado state employee is promoting some unpleasant discussion. The picture was sent using the state's email.

As a political cartoon on an editorial page, such a picture might be acceptable, especially if promoting some element of a conservative agenda.

That the picture evokes an unpleasant time in our racially charged past is unfortunate. That someone would push that envelope is alarming, but not unexpected. We've seen a lot of racial ugliness in the time since the election of this president.

Frankly, these cartoons are cheap and unnecessary to make the intended point.

Should the 73 year old employee lose a job for it? No. That punishment does not match the offense, which is only the improper use of state email.

I am the photographer who took the original capture. The photograph
presented in the article is an unauthorized plagiarism. I resent
anyone using my copyrighted photographs without my consent in the
first place and even more so bringing an undeserved infamy to my name
by altering them and using with ill intend. I am an Australian
photographer and American politics are as far away from my mind as are
our countries. Is this racism? I am not sure, but it is THEFT and
DEFAMATION for sure.
Please see my post from some time ago on the subject:
