Well, now, perhaps the USAF is getting a clue. What on earth does it matter that an airman has a tat on the saluting arm? That'd be the right arm if you were wondering.
What counts is being able to do the job, whatever that is, and any leader worth the salt will know that.
This business of form over function to the point of dismissing perfectly capable recruits is indicative of an organization that has lost it's way. Let's hope the rescension of this unecessary ban is evidence that the organization is pulling out of that unfortunate death spiral.
