Cuba Detains a U.S. Contractor

The detention threatens to reignite tensions at a time when both countries had promised more engagement.

So here you go. The way to defeat Castro and open Cuba has been self-evident for decades.

There's a reason Castro's government wants to limit satelite phones and computers.

Let people visit. Let them take their stuff. Let them spend their money. Let the information flow. Watch the barriers fall.

Every other country in the world permits free trade with Cuba, and the sun continues to rise. The American embargo only provides the Cuban with the platform it needs to continue spewing its rhetoric.

And of course, this fuels further the nonsense of Chavez in Venezuela. Like we need one more American hater in this world.

So open those channels to Cuba. Watch the free flow of information do its work. Buy that sugar. Learn that Cuban cigars are not as good as the hype would suggest.

And while we're at it, let them have Gitmo back. We really don't need that spot of earth anymore.
