Never, ever, use mess like Hotwire

On CNN: One airline ticket for the price of two http://www.cnn.com/2009/TRAVEL/11/03/airline.ticket.trouble/index.html?iphoneemail

Folks, there's a reason this mess is cheap.

These peeps used Hotwire to book a flight involving three airlines and codeshare. They were doomed from the getgo.

Codeshare is definite demon spawn. Been there. Done that. Once was enough.

Then, they had some weather. Flights got cancelled.

Then records of flights are conveniently lost. Oh dear. Who might have seen that one coming?

Then they bought replacement tickets from United. That had to hurt.

Now they want some money back. Poor babies had to engage a third party to find a little justice.

The easier thing is to avoid these sites that offer cheapness. Go ahead, scout a bit, and pay the piper. Book with a single carrier.

Later when there's trouble, you might stand a chance.

Want a car? Go to Hertz or something similar. Don't use the airline site. And don't buy the third party insurance. If you want that, get it from the car agency. When you need it, you'll understand why.

Peeps! There's a reason why the cheap mess is cheap. You really don't want to engage this nonsense just to save a few bucks.
